Almost BGN 800,000 will be invested in environmental initiatives on the territory of four municipalities from the Blagoevgrad and Kyustendil regions. The funds were earned through the European project "Implementation of measures for successful adaptation to climate change". And the transformation embedded in the activities will continue in the next two years.

The data were presented today at a press conference in Blagoevgrad.

The main European policy for a clean environment must also find a significant place in the activities of the Bulgarian local authorities. The project covers four neighboring municipalities - Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Kocherinovo and Boboshevo. This was emphasized by Blagoevgrad Deputy Mayor Maria Petrova.

The aim of the development, which is carried out in partnership with the International Development Association of Norway (IDNA), is to introduce high-tech measures at the municipal level in the waste and energy sector. The Deputy Mayor of Simitli municipality, Evgenia Georgieva, was categorical in her statement about the extreme necessity of such steps.

Solar hot water systems will be installed in the social units of two of the municipalities - Blagoevgrad and Simitli. In 1,200 households on the territory of Boboshevo and Kocherinovo, a process of home composting of biodegradable waste will be introduced.
